Full Moon

The Half Moon in Putney has been saved from closure after a successful demonstration of people power. One of the great independent music venues, which has played host to the Rolling Stones, the Who and U2 amongst others since 1963, it was in grave danger of having played its last gig until collective interests got together to prevent Young’s, the owners, from turning it into a gastro pub. The brewers hadn’t banked on the strength of the campaign mounted by landlord James Davis who mobilised over 10,000 people on Facebook as well as getting many messages of support from bands who had played there. Captive Minds supported the Half Moon campaign and would encourage any live music venues threatened with closure to make contact with them.
