World Polo Makes Triumphant Return to Hurlingham

On June 4th, 5th and 6th 2010, for only the second time in nearly a century, Hurlingham Park in London will thunder with the hooves of world-class polo players in the World Polo Series at MINT Polo in the Park. More than 32,000 spectators will attend the weekend spectacular and pack the stands to cheer Team London to victory as they fight to defend last year’s historic win amongst a total of eight fully professional teams.
MINT Polo in the Park is the new Twenty20 style spectator-friendly format of the traditional game that took the nation by storm with 2009’s inaugural tournament. The new style was created to highlight the high-octane and exciting family friendly sport of polo and showcase it with world’s first fully-pro tournament.
With the 2010 tournament now well and truly under-way, yet more developments in the rules have been causing interest across the sports world. Each of the world-renowned eight teams, will lose a player, each team will now feature just three players per side which will make the game yet faster and more exhilarating as the World Polo Series turns polo from a lifestyle into a professional sport.
The event is a full weekend of entertainment, with central London’s first every stunt riding competition, stunt riders from famous Hollywood blockbusters, military displays from the best of our Armed Forces and finally a number of ‘skills’ events from the polo players, including penalty shoot-outs and the longest-shot at goal.
However, if you were looking to embrace the ultimate polo experience, bring your friends and make the most of the Pimms tent, traditional Farmers market, luxury shopping village and of course the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Garden.
The event contains world-class hospitality at The Hurlingham Club, including fine dining or picnic box packages and the first ever Harrods and Veuve Clicquot Afternoon Tea which guests receive after coming through from the Hurlingham Club, in the exclusive pitchside hospitality marquee.
On Friday June 4th, celebrate the end of the working week at the pitchside bars as Team London play Team Geneva at 6.30pm. This special evening match is designed for the ultimate ‘after-work’ drink , giving Londoners the chance to get to Hurlingham Park to end their working week in style.
Furthermore, on Sunday June 6th an extra special guest match between the legendary clubs Oxford and Edinburgh will take place at 11.00am, a great opening for Sunday morning. With more stunt riding and of course The World Series Final at MINT Polo in the Park, Sunday is the big prize giving day.
With junior tickets starting from £10, MINT Polo in the Park is certainly set to be THE event of the summer. Tickets are available online and can be purchased through Ticketmaster atwww.ticketmaster.co.uk or call 0870 534 4444.
And just in case you thought the fun ended there, no polo tournament is complete without a players after- party. Country and Town House are proud to be partnering up with the legendary Nikki Beach as the weekends official after party sponsor, so you can party right through until the early hours. This is the first major event for Nikki Beach in London and they will be creating a Nikki Beach Club complete with signature sounds and décor at the stunning Hurlingham Club in London SW6. This exclusive private members club sits in 42 acres of magnificent lawns and from 6pm after a day of polo you can come and enjoy an evening jam packed with music, dance and style.
